Dr. Robert Basile

Dr. Basile is a 1979 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He received his Bachelors degree in Biology from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. He has been in private practice in McHenry County for over 38 years, and had taught at Loyola University in Maywood, Illinois.

Dr. Basile is dedicated to professional education: his memberships include the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the McHenry County Dental Society, where he had served on its Board of Directors. In 1997, he earned his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, an organization dedicated to advanced education and training for general dentists. Fellowship inductees must fulfill 500 hours of continuing education and pass a comprehensive examination.

He is a member of the American Equilibration Society, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and president of  the Excellence Dental Study club.  He is an alumnus of the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study, The Spear (Dental) Institute, and the L.D. Pankey Institute where he has participated in over 400 hours of post doctoral training.

I have worked alongside Dr. Basile for 28 years. I especially enjoy helping patients feel comfortable during their dental treatment.  When I’m not at work, I enjoy being in the great outdoors – hiking, biking, camping, kayaking. I also enjoy reading and needle work.

I originally entered the dental field as a dental assistant but returned to school to become a registered dental hygienist. I have worked for Dr. Basile for many years now. I take continuing education courses throughout the year, such as advanced periodontal instrumentation and certification in administering local anesthesia as two examples.

My husband, Gary and I live in McHenry and have four children and a mini Australian Shepard, Boomer.  My pre-children hobby of snowmobiling has become spending time watching my children play baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, on the dance team, and at their karate classes.

Ellen has been in the dental field for 30 years. This journey has lead her to countless relationships; both personal and professional. Her greatest accomplishment in her years of experience is the trust she has gained from both aspects of these relationships.

Over the years she has been afforded many upper-level continuous education courses that have opened many great opportunities. These opportunities have defined her dental philosophy and attitude toward dental techniques and facilitating patient care.

Ellen lives in McHenry with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys raising her busy family and providing quality services at Robert Basile’s practice.
